There is certainly a lot of medical information out on the web about health information and disease including HIV and Aids, but many people forget that diabetes, which often goes undiagnosed because many symptoms seem harmless, is also very important to understand since studies show that those who know the symptoms of diabetes and get treatment can decrease the chances of developing complications.
Health
Traditional Definition:
- The overall condition of an organism at a given time.
- Soundness, especially of body or mind; freedom from disease or abnormality.
- A condition of optimal well-being: concerned about the ecological
health of the area.
- A wish for someone's good health, often expressed as a toast.
New World Definition:
Health is one of the most important qualities of any entity. Health
is necessary for growth. Health is crucial for prosperity. Health is an
effect of understanding. Health is an effect of love.
Health cannot be judged solely on the efficiency of function of any single
system... True Health is dependant on the subject system's connections
with associated systems as well as their health.
Many previous definitions of health did not aknowledge the connectedness
of the health of all life, feelings, thought, and things. True health
does not only depend on the efficient function of the subject system.
To illustrate this point, please consider the following example:
The health of aperson who excersizes regularly and eats well would
be considered by medical doctors to be good. However, if this person
is not also emotionally healthy, this person who would otherwise be
physically stong and be resistant to infection and disease would be
prone to sickness and fatigue.
The health of all systems is important. a deficiency in the health
of emotional state or spirit would have the same effect.

Healthcare-- Magic & Hope by Roy Sanbower
"Medicine, doctoring and health care takes widely different forms in different areas and times for us humans. Over the centuries, the style of most health care in Euro-American countries has turned more and more to rely on science, with its various machinery for diagnosis and pills and surgery its usual forms of treatment. The indigenous systems, folk beliefs, magical and religious/spiritual ways of understanding and working with health have become peripheral."

Edge of Medicine by Arthur Rapkin
"What are the values that drive our health-care culture? It seems that power, righteousness, authority and financial wealth are most valuable to many doctors, whose attitudes toward patients are unrelentingly authoritative even dictatorial. They are focused on convincing, compelling and controlling their patients. Try to openly disagree with your doctor and see where it gets you. It may get you thrown out of his or her office. It happened to me when I openly disagreed with the pediatrician about what was right for my child. I know it could happen to you."
